Port Regulatory Framework

 

Abu Dhabi Ports Company makes Byelaws, Directions and Rules. The Byelaws, which provide for the overall management of the ports, are made to comply with the Department of Transport, Transport Regulations (General and Port Operations) 2010.

The Masters of vessels are required to comply with the Harbour Masters Directions which are primarily concerned with the water side of port operations.

The Port Rules have been designed to address the Harbour Master’s Powers in respect of operations on the land of each port.

The Company also issues guidance in the form of standards, codes of practice and handbooks which provide port users with examples of how to achieve best practice. The diagram below sets out the principles on which Abu Dhabi Port Regulation and guidance is based.
